I think that Story is one of the most unique retailers in New York. Described as “a retail space that has the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like a store,” the 2,000 square foot space in Chelsea gets a complete makeover every four to eight weeks, with all of the merchandise revolving around a specific theme, or story. The current experience is titled “Art,” and is a collaboration with Art.com, whose goal is to make – you guessed it – art available to everyone.
And then there’s CONSTRVCT, the “world’s first collaborative fashion label,” which is also featured prominently at Story. The crowd-sourced label allows anyone to create their own designs by uploading their photos or artwork, choosing a style, and entering their measurements. Users will see a 3D preview of their piece and then a few weeks later it will be delivered to their door. Mind. Blown.
This story is only up through April 16th, so get over there! Story is located at 144 Tenth Avenue (at 19th Street).
