On September 10, 2009, American Vogue teams up with the City of New York, NYC & Company, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to put on Fashion’s Night Out. Over 700 designers and retailers throughout New York City will stay open late (most until 11 p.m.) with the objectives of promoting retail, restoring consumer confidence, and celebrating fashion.
Prepare for tons of celebrity, designer, and model sightings. Mary-Kate and Ashley will be bartending at Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman, Kirna Zabete’s party will be co-hosted by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Thakoon, Jason Wu, and Peter Som, and Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman will be styling customers for in-store photo shoots at Henri Bendel.
At the May 20 press conference to announce the event Vera Wang said, “If people don’t shop, people lose their jobs.” Now, I’m not a fan of threats but my love of shopping outweighs my dislike of being bullied by a wedding gown designer. So I’ll be there.

And if you aren’t in New York, don’t worry. The event will be going on in London, Paris, Milan, Moscow, Madrid, Berlin, Beijing, New Delhi, Saõ Paolo, Taiwan, and Athens.
